CANNCONVENTION 2020

The CannConvention is a two-day symposium filled with exciting lectures and training on medical cannabis.

Initial position

Since 2017, as part of the statutory health insurance (SHI) persons insured are legally entitled to be prescribed and administered medical cannabis if suffering from a severe disease for which no alternate therapeutic options are acknowledged or in a given case cannot be applied and a perceptible positive impact on the patient is expected. There is no limitation to certain indications.

Challenge: medical cannabis

The administration of the entitlement in the field leads to significant uncertainties for medical faculty and pharmaceutics in dealing with medical cannabis. Despite the legal simplification, the number of issued prescriptions stagnated. Concurrently, due to the increasing trade with medical cannabis established wholesalers, logisticians and companies within the industry are being confronted with new challenges. Many startup-companies are using this particular market as an innovative business idea whereby competition intensifies.

Matter of the symposium

The aim is to amplify the regulatory background and the existing difficulties of dealing with medical cannabis and provide practical solutions, upon other terms regarding prescribing, dispense, sourcing (cultivation and import), trade and development of cannabis based products (e.g. food and dietary supplements). Therefore, the entire supply chain “from plant to patient” is being reviewed by experienced specialists.
